Bleed over question: Where was your truck born?
There is a topic in the Pickup section about the origins of our trucks, this got me curious. My 1970 Jimmy was an ordered truck through a dealership in San Jose, CA and has always been in the state, yet it was shipped from St. Louis and not the Fremont plant which is only 20 miles from the dealership it was ordered through.
I'm curious if Blazers and Jimmys were made in all the plants that made pickups or just select ones. So to extend this thread over here, where was your truck born? If you don't know, here is how to decode the assembly plant from the VIN: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html |

My blazer was born in Flint, and my C-10 is a Janesville truck.

Also - final assembly locations are not assigned solely on geography. Other factors, like specific option content or leveling of workload, can drive a vehicle order to a specific plant that might be farther away from the selling dealer. K

Re: Bleed over question: Where was your truck born?
K5's were built in either St. Louis or Flint. The Blazer/Jimmy SPID thread supports this.

Re: Bleed over question: Where was your truck born?
I thought that might be the case that it was pretty limited what assembly plants did them. I'd also be curious if single walls were limited to one factory or the other since some 72 are doubles and some singles.

Not sure about the whole history, but I'm from Ft. Worth, Tx. and I bought it from a guy in Pittsburgh, Pa.
