'50 3800 stock wheel size
Does anyone know what the stock wheel size and backspacing/offset on a 1950 Chevy 3800 1 ton Pickup? I know the bolt pattern is 8 x 165mm.

Thanks for all the replies. I knew there is a difference between backspace and offset, but I'm still unclear of what each means. The reason I ask my original question is because I just recently bought my '50 3800 and the previous owner put different wheels on it and they aren't the correct size. The rear fit fine, but the front rub on the inside against the tie rod end. Is there a solution to my problem other than replacing the wheels and tires?

Is your truck a dually or single wheel truck?
From my experience, 1980's/90's Ford 16" rims work good for single wheel trucks. They have around a 4" backspace. Your OEM rims were somewhere in the 3.5-3.75 range. Of course, the OE rims were narrower. Backspace vs. Offset http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/suspe...ce_and_offset/ |

Yes, that would be 3.5-3.75 backspace
