cubic inch formula
what is the formula for figuring out cubic inches
i just called the machinist that rebuilt my BB 4.250 bore + .060 4.125 stroke it was the same cost to stroke my stock steel crank as have it turned and one journal welded CUBIC INCHES WON

481 cubic inches.
It's 3.14 X radius (2.155) squared = 14.582 This is the area of the circle. To get the volume of the cylinder, you take that number and muliply it by the stroke (4.125). This gives you 60.152. This is how many cubic inches each cylinder is. Then just multiply by the number of cylinders in your engine (8). And you get the magic number 481.214 cubic inches. That's a big engine. Hope it helps. |

Pi X r2 X depth X number of cylinders... 3.14 X 2.125 X 2.125 X 4.125 X 8 = 467.90906 ci. Hope my math is correct, but this is the formula.

sweet72 you forgot to add the .060 for the overbore. That adds up when you do the volume.
