Power brakes disc/drum

What is the best option for a new brake booster master cylinder combo for 65 truck? I have replaced front with a 72 disc and the rear has 72 drum.

Re: Power brakes disc/drum

There is several companies putting out a direct fit booster for that, CPP being the one I went with.

I used a set for a 71 impala. I like the steel MC and older looking booster.

I have a brand new one from Brothers that I will sell you for $250.00 + shipping. They run $299.00 from Brothers + shipping. I used a bracket from Captfab with mine. It makes installing the booster much easier. Here is a pic.

Re: Power brakes disc/drum

Why not use 72 GM parts from the local NAPA, etc. to match the 72 brake parts you already have?

I have it sitting in the spare bedroom with a lot of other new parts so I haven't actually installed it yet. It is advertised as an easy installation and may need some new holes drilled, haven't looked into to it. It comes with firewall bracket and adjustable rod to the brake pedal for $299. http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...ck/6062BB2.htm

If you want something that is basically a bolt on deal, take a look at my booster brackets (link in my signature line). Then you can use one of the many compatible boosters listed in both post#1 and #183. You do not have to use the master cylinder that comes with a given booster.

Thanks Captainfab. I was thinking about using the impala one but was not sure about the pushrod.

Re: Power brakes disc/drum

When you add a brake booster the pushrod to the pedal will need to be lengthened.

Re: Power brakes disc/drum

There are quite a few pics in the for sale thread. The first 2 pics in post #2 are a '72 Impala booster in my Burb.

Re: Power brakes disc/drum

I finally got to the shop and got a couple of pics. In the one you can see the captainfab bracket. Fits perfect! I will probably paint the booster flat black and the MC with Por15.

Re: Power brakes disc/drum

I got a coupler that screws on the end that comes out of the booster into the cab from Fasteners, drilled a hole one inch down from the original one on the brake pedal, put the stock pushrod in that hole, press the pedal down a half inch off the stop thats on the bracket that holds the column, and will weld the rod to the coupler. It's not done yet but that should do it.
