More GRant Steering Wheel Horn problems

Have a 72 tilt column with a olds steering wheel. Bought a classic Grant wheel and the 3163 installation kit. Followed directions and 67-72 links and used the small spring from the signal cancel cam in the grant unit. Horn is always on. Replaced 5 times. Tried Grant spring and same. The contact plate button is not contacting but the horn always blows. Any ideas. It seems the grant 'brass' plunger is too large.

Re: More GRant Steering Wheel Horn problems

I've dealt with my fair share of Grant horn problems and hadn't figured it out before my truck was torn down, but I can tell you this: metal IS touching somewhere. There are little tricks I've heard of like, lining the metal hole that the brass plunger/sleeve slides into to prevent side to side contact. I couldn't tell you what, just internet banter I've read. I don't want this to sound insulting, but understanding the mechanism itself is a great way to figure out the problem. When I first looked at it, I thought... just follow the directions and i'll have a working horn in a half hour. 2 hours later I have a horn that honks whenever it feels like it. It helped me to tear it down and build it back up to understand HOW it works. Best of luck to you, I know it's a bummer.
