How to clean and preserve buddy buckets

I picked up a really nice set of original buddy buckets and I am looking for advice on what is the best product for cleaning and preserving the original material. Thanks Nathan

I would try some Westleys BleachWhite tire cleaner and then rub in some baby oil and wipe off the excess with a dry cloth.

I would pick up a bottle of vinyl cleaner, a good quality one with a conditioner. Last thing you want to do is apply something that can dry it out or harm the stitching.

Wow those look excellent. There is a lot of people that do vinyl repair that may have a some good advice. If not check with an upholstery shop.

I use a 50/50 mix of simple green and water. Very mild and very effective cleaner. You can't go wrong with a good quality vinyl cleaner as Lee stated either.

I have used Mr clean magic eraser on my boat seats and made them look brand new

Thank you guys for your input. When I got in the truck they where in the clip from my pen light caught and the stitching gave way. Alittle bummed about that. I was wondering if it is fixable.

NEVER ! use bleach white or any product with bleach to clean seats it will rot all the stitching and they will fall apart !

Ok , the long and short of it whoever you bought the seats from switched the drivers and passengers seats to hide the outer sun damaged edges thats why the damage is located inside by the buddy seat rather than outside where the sun would come in the side windows .You can tell by how the material on the inside edges is shrunk and probably hard and has compressed the foam inside the seat backs

All VINYL is made from petroleum products and has pores just like real leather using vinyl cleaners is basically useless they just don't work and most contain ALCOHOL which you really don't want on your vinyl seats .

Clean VINYL with mineral spirits or non ethanol gasoline on a damp rag it will remove most dirt and grease but will not fill the pores of the material , if you want to condition them use a product like clear majic or the interior amour all . the seats you pictured are sun burnt and other than recoloring them you won't be able to fix the burnt vinyl And that won't help the material it's cooked and beyond saving once you start using them they will crack and fall apart ,You can find vinyl dye in most auto parts stores unlike paint it has a flex agent in it and works good providing you prep the seats right first .but it doesn't last forever , Check with you local auto upholstery shop and get a few prices on re upholstering them before buying expensive chinese covers . I recovered these for my neighbor .

Thanks grumpy for the reply. I took the sets out of a C30 camper I bought. I think it is just dirty from being the pass through area of the camper. If you look close on drivers seat it has a four inch separation on seem. Is there any way to repair.

I've been building interiors for 35+ years my suggestion is take them to your local auto upholstery shop if the material is still pliable enough they can remove the cover and restitch it tighter it's hard to tell from a picture .
