ocd kicking in need info

I looked thru build threads here, my photos and can't find what I need. Could someone take a close up picture of a 58-59 hood to fender gap (see attached photo of area) and back of the hood to cowl gap for me? No hurry, just wanting to confirm how far out of factory tolerance, if any, my truck is. I wish I had taken more detailed photos when I took this thing a part! Thanks in advance.

Re: ocd kicking in need info

i don't remember shimming or adjusting anything, just bolt everything together
hang doors first as the fender to door gap is adjustable
bolt in the core support, grill, inner fenders and fenders; in that order
you can move the core support left, right, back or forward a bit for adjustment
my cowl to fender gap on pass side is great, drivers side is 1/2'' wide
these trucks move a lot, i do know that too tight of a gap will chip paint

these i had in photobucket. any of these help?

Re: ocd kicking in need info

Thanks guys exactly what I needed. In both it appears like the hood is pulled back a little off of the fender line so I am good. Hood to cowl is what I am showing too, thought it might be tighter, but is good too.

Ogre, that is the order I am installing (per a previous query you answered), issue I am have is to get the passenger fender to door gaps parallel the fender has to rotate up at the headlight end. I will figure it out. Thanks again.

orrieg
not sure if you can pre assemble everything and place it on your truck
that's how it came off, your probably trying to locate your core support

though it's easier to get everything in the engine bay finished with just the radiator core in

Re: ocd kicking in need info

No I am way beyond that. Did core support first so I could mount the radiator, hoses and shroud to figure out the accessory mounting pulleys, brackets, etc. Then hung the inner fenders to make sure the rad support was right and to run the heater, ac hoses and wiring. Mounted the doors to fit the top, bottom and rear cab gaps. Then grill support and fenders to set the front door gaps and check the door and fender profiles. Driver side was real close. Passenger bottom fender over lapped the door at the bottom with the top gap set at about 3/32". this is with the fender and inner fender bolted tight to the rad core. Fender needed to rotate up in front, I got it where I wanted it last night but still need to figure out where the tension is. I suspect it is the upper two bolts that hold the inner fender, fender and rad core support together. Still need to check to make sure the whole clip is level side to side, I might find that the front frame rail is tweaked downward from the PO accident in the 60's. I can't imagine the fun guys who clip these go thru, I'm betting a lot of time that is not disclosed in the threads...

I do know that in 85 when I converted to V8 and 4wd, I just pulled off the whole front end, including the rad core as one piece and did not have any issues remounting it, that is why I suspect it has to do with my "fixing" the tin damage to the passenger side I found when I took everything apart.
