2"Drop spindle

Hey guys getting ready to put 2" drop spindles on the blue heeler, is there any
problems running 15" rallys? any rubbing or clearance problems i should look for? thanks and have a Merry Christmas.

I am using 15" rallys with 2 1/2 " drop spindles with no problems. I think if you change over to large disc brake rotors there could be issues.

Blue heeler I ran 2 1/2 drop spindles with a disc brake conversion on my truck and ran into problems with only the stock 15 inch wheels...they rubbed on the calipers. Are you installing disc brakes and running original style 60s rims or the rallys from later years?

I guess those 2" are the modular spindles?

I believe they are made specifically so you can run bigger wheels.

i just installed my 2.5 spindles with disc brakes. im running 15 in steelies. the calipers rub so i need to install 1/4 spacers hopefully it works.. i have the stock style drop spindles not modular..

Disc brake spec steel wheels should work w/o issue. Early drum brake wheels will have caliper clearance issues & will require spacing the wheel out.

You shouldn't have any problems w/a stock 15" wheel. Aftermarket wheels w/agressive back-spacing might require some clearancing @ the lower a-arm lip (stockers usually only run when close to full lock).

Mad Rods I don't think 1/4 spacers are not enough. ScotI is correct on the early drum brake wheels. I spent over 2 years finding 1 wheel to match the 3 remaining to have the complete set on my truck to end up selling them. I ran into the same problem and the only solution was to buy a set of new steelie wheels (bare metal) from Summit for about $49.00 bucks same wheels Wheel Vintiques make but cheaper through Summit. Heres sum pics of the original wheel that did not work and new wheel.

I asked CPPJEFF that question a while back but about the 8" rally wheels. He said they would work with the modulars.

I'm just running everything stock as far as rotors and calipers, i would just hate to do all this work and run into problems. thanks guy for all you help.

so heres what I did... I wanted stock steelies on my truck... So theres to ways to go about this with out spending the extra money for the modules. 73-87 chevy work vans are 6 lug and have a 15x6 wheel... thats what Im running on the front with NO problems since they had disks as well. For the Back I found a 3/4 military truck from the same years.. they came with a 15x8 steelie from the factory. As for your rallies question... depending on the year they should work just fine!!

Looking at the above photos, it appears that if the caliper mounting arms on the spindles clear, the calipers will also clear. Is that correct?
Here is a standard spindle I mocked up to my 15" wheels (no drop).

Okay, I went ahead and bought some stock calipers to see if they clear, and yes, they do.
The calipers actually have more clearance than the spindle's caliper arms/ears.

So, I guess if a standard spindle clears, can I assume a modular 2" drop spindle will also clear?

I got a set of CPP modular drop spindles and thay rubbed on my 15X7 rally wheals. I can't quite remember if it was rubbing on the wheal or the weights clipped on to the rim of the wheel. I ended up getting 17 inch wheals so I can't check. You should be able to grind down on the spindle if it does rub.

it all comes down to back spacing of the wheel. 4" back spacing would be the max you want with 15" wheels. i bought a complete kit with 2 1/2 drop spindles from ECE and it all worked with my 4" back space wheels as they said it would. i did grind the nub off the tie rod arm for more clearance to the weights. i have 73-8? 4x4 6 lug rally wheels. i believe those 15x7 are either 4" or a little more. lostmy65 yes thats 3 1/2" back spacing and should work.
