Low hump or high hump

My 63' has a big block and a Muncie 4 speed. I'm considering switching to automatic and became aware of different humps.

Does 63' have a low hump and high hump options?

How would I tell what I have?

If I switch to a 350 trans would I need one or the other for clearance?

Re: Low hump or high hump

I beg to differ, you have a 3 speed column shift or Automatic Hump, See how it curves back up at the seat.

The four speed High Hump goes almost level from the front to the seat.

Re: Low hump or high hump

OK, it appears I have a low hump. And I saw a couple posts that a 350 tranny will fit?

Re: Low hump or high hump

Here are a few pictures I pulled off the net that should make identification a little easier. A high hump pan is almost square in the center, rises up in front of the seat, and is always removable:

The low hump drops in front of the seat, may be removable or may be a permanent part of the floor. From all the threads I’ve read on this topic, they are not directly interchangeable, however a high hump can be added to a low hump truck if the portion from the high hump donor truck in front of the removable pan is also cut out and welded into the low hump cab.

Re: Low hump or high hump

I believe it's a year issue. My 63 has a removable low hump but the black 66 that I sold had an integrated low hump.
