1979 Chevy Bonanza truck
Hello,
I have the above chevy truck. The fog lights are about 1990ish. Each fog light has a black wire coming from it. I would like to know if someone could tell me how to connect those wires to the headlights properly. If the black wire goes to what on the headlight so I don't short anything out LOL Thank you |

You need to go get a fog/driving lights switch kit or a switch, some wire and electrical connections. Dont connect them to your headlight/parklight circuit, it isn't capable of handling the added amperage.

Re: 1979 Chevy Bonanza truck
If it's a single wire, then that's your hot wire and the fog lights are grounded through the frame. If you want to have your fog lights run off your headlights then you can use a relay. Wire your fog light black wires to a relay, run the other side of the relay to your battery. You can use the power wire from your headlights to act as the control signal for the relay to turn your fog lights on and off with your headlights. Ideally you'd want to use the line coming from your headlight switch as the control signal for your fog light relay, but coming directly off the headlight should work fine as well.

Cool, thank you!! Yes, the fog lights were already on the truck just disconnected. There is one black wire from each light not connected.
I found this: Amazon.com: Winjet Universal Wiring Harness... on amazon but don't know if I need a switch or not. Last edited by ladyh; 09-11-2014 at 05:34 PM. |
