Re: exhaust systems

I struggled with where to run the exit on my '72. Didn't really like the side exit, or under the rear bumper. I had the exhaust shop run it over the rear axles and just point it down, so that it was hidden all together. No side or rear exit and no worry about exhaust tips.

Re: exhaust systems

I don't. Of all the photos I have, I didn't take any when they were doing that.

It wasn't anything special. He just ran the piping over the rear axle and rather than curving to exit under the bumper, just cut it off about three inches above where the bottom of the bumper line is, so that it was hidden.

Re: exhaust systems

When I bought my 72, it was very original and stock, except for these huge 3 inch chrome tips coming out the back closely spaced in the middle if the bumper. They may as well have used rice burner stainless tin cans. Not the look I wanted for a stock truck, but I didn't want the side exit either, so I ran pipes like they would on a car with exits under the bumper but spaced out and running down the frame.

Ran mine through the cross members and around the tank in the rear.
