Rear tow hooks

Looking for a picture of installed stock rear tow hooks.
I picked up a set and will be installing them into my 72; would like to see how/where the factory installed them.
Thanks in advance

Re: Rear tow hooks

I had these saved for reference, but am unsure if 100% correct. I suppose they would be great on a flat bed truck.

Re: Rear tow hooks

Nobolt,
Appreciate the pics, my frame doesn't look like that; I don't have that wedge shape on the bottom.
Any other opinions and pics welcomed
Thanks

Re: Rear tow hooks

someone chime in on this...

I believe the wedge/triangle was added to accommodate the hook.
I think Pete (DeadheadNM) has these on his 4x4. I may have stolen the pics from his build.

Re: Rear tow hooks

The wedge was added for a mounting spot. Remeber the rearhooks were an accessory. Here is the only picture I have of the installation sheet showing them mounted on the side of the frame.

Re: Rear tow hooks

We added the wedges to accommodate the hooks on my K20. There is little clearance below the level of the rear bumper - mounted to the side of the frame would render these useless on a C/K 10/20/30 if a bumper is present so avoid that.

True enough but then rear bumpers were options or accessories too on pickups.

Re: Rear tow hooks

Contrary to mythical beliefs these hooks are not rare. You can still buy them from the original mfg AND the 2801 style would fit better on a frame rail, if you are so inclined to add hooks at the back. Put the 2801's in with some grade 8 hardware and add some doubler plates and never look back (no pun intended).
