Thinking about the 1970's tonight!
I'm in a very nostalgic mood.....
I'm up late so I decided to watch "The Omega Man" and unwind a little. This movie was filmed in downtown Los Angeles in 1971 and right off one can spot two of our trucks with camper backs....I think the second one is a 1969/1970. There is a heavy presence of late 60's to early 70's cars... I keep thinking how great it would be if I was driving my truck: it's such a piece of that time you know? I keep thinking also how great it would be it I owned another example of it....say a Suburban this time... Oh well...back to the movie. I hope everyone has a great weekend. |

I understand. I was looking at dads 1971 longhorn this morning and thinking that owning and driving one of these trucks is as much about an attitude or mind set as it is just owning a good old truck.
Maybe you should get yours out on the road....SOON! |

Ten Ring, you are not alone
For years and years, my wife and I used to end the day with a TV episode of MASH 4077. There was always a station that played an episode at 10pm. Eventually that faded away from TV...at least where we live. So accustomed to it, I bought the entire DVD series of MASH and we still watch an episode almost every night before bed. I used to tell my kids (all grown with families of their own now) that everything you needed to know about life could be learned by watching the ROCKY movies. The 70s were better days and better times. I don't miss bell bottoms, polyester shirts or baby blue tuxedos, but just about everything else.

Re: Thinking about the 1970's tonight!
Haven't seen that one in a while, but I bet a lot more people today pay attention to vehicles in the back ground of shows or movies than they did back in the 70's. One thing that stands out, a great majority of vehicles were not modified, they were being used "as is" as a functional utility vehicles. Good luck finding any slammed street rods back then ( you know- like the one on this sites logo). IMO, a stock unmodified truck today, is really a time capsule back to another era (priceless).

As for these trucks being an attitude or mind set, there is just a feeling that comes over you when you drive one of these. Everyone notices it no matter what make they favor. The truck is an icon and that just bleeds right back into the driver. I sure do miss mine. I guess I better get in the garage and do something on it.
