Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

Obviously truthful as we sure seem to like them.

In fact, I have no desire to own anything newer than 1972.

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

Interesting how every ad truck has the large back window option.
As most of the buyers didn't order that option.

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

That's a good point JCD... As a matter of fact I have found the 67s big window to be pretty rare.

Great ad find!

Nice catch, I never even noticed that. I have a ton of ads stashed away. I was kind of surprised to find this one since I had already gone through that magazine. I musta been tired of flipping through them when I hit that one last time.

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

Looks like an old style "underwater" V-6, but did they offer that in 67?

GMC's did have the 305 V6 as an available engine.
Edit: some people say that 1969 was the last year the V6 was offered in light duty trucks but a few 1070's have shown up on the board with the V6.

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

Were there any ads for short fleets or stepsides, or even long stepsides?
As they seem to be the rarest of the breed.

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

To think that when the 67's came out in the fall of '66, everybody thought they where the ugliest truck that gm had produced!
Well, at least in my part of the world!

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

These trucks did resist rust better than what came before and definitely after. Depending on how their life was spent, there are still many survivors in rust belt areas with amazingly little rust compared to any other vehicle of that age.

I'm not sure I have this ad,but there were a ton since it was a new break-through design.

CG, I have that same ad framed and hanging on the wall. My wife found it in a Time magazine if I remember correctly.

I was in high school in L.A. When I first saw a new Chevy truck [a Lemon Yellow Shortbed Fleetside, IIRC] pass by the school at lunchtime, I said to myself: " Wow, No More Ugly Trucks!"

As far as the 'New Breed' label. I had heard it, but somehow it didn't stick like 'Advanced Design' or 'Task Force' .

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

Very typical of the '67 ad campaign: artist renditions of the pickups. We had to wait till '68 to get real photos. Notice how vehicles pictured mostly have white wall tires and chrome bumpers etc. to promote the new more "car like look". I will balance the scales and show the "truck like look" for '67.

Re: 67 Ad I hadnt seen before

I was 12 and my neighbors had a pretty big 2nd generation masonry business. They used Chevy Trucks and ever since I saw that Medium Green K/20 in the driveway I've been hooked. I was still disappointed to see the '64 K/20 in same color go,though. I can picture that truck like a brochure picture. It had the company name on the door, snow plow, and the black wheels had the bead and lugs painted silver (<ok,not like brochure),like guys used to do on truck wheels
