Front leaf bolts supposed to be round?
This may sound silly but I've got to ask: are the front leaf spring bolts supposed to be perfectly round? Both of mine, I discovered, are slightly eccentric. I'll get a pic up when I can.
Both of the rear bushings were totally shot, coming out in two pieces. I'd be willing to believe the bolts are trash, too, but want to be sure. Here we go...

Yep, should be round. Mine looked the same way when I pulled them out. NAPA carries replacement bolts. Although they weren't real cheap if I remember right.

Yeah, I was pretty sure of that...
The bushings were not a super tight fit into the leaves, though I did pull out the U-joint press. The old bolts in the new bushings... real sloppy. Worst part is that the bolts are 11/16" diameter. Beyond being greasable, just you try and find an 11/16 bolt. RockAuto to the rescue.

Those are plum as in plum worn out. It's pretty common if the truck has any miles,

It seems kind of silly that the bolt is the trunion. Good car design says that should never be the case. Oh, well.
On the positive side, I'll definitely be tightening up the front suspension quite a bit when the new bolts get here and I take the truck off jack stands. It might even do 60 mph without (much) excitement. Then again, one of the under-70-miles TREs I've got in it is loose...

New bolts and new bushings. Remember that these trucks were greased every thousand miles when they were new for a reason.
