New C10 in DFW
i picked up a 1971 C10 longbed today. it runs and drives with the only issue being a leaking radiator spout. i'll replace the radiator anyways on my build so its no biggie.
the interior needs a bit of work, the dash piece and glove box are sitting on the seat. i traded a dirt bike for the truck so im pretty stoked about it. no money out of pocket, persay, and ive always wanted one so im set. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: New C10 in DFW
my main plan is to pull the motor and rebuild it to around 500hp/500tq, then swap out the tranny or rebuild this one.
while i do that, i'll slowly do small stuff here and there like the seat, a radio, maybe a steering wheel...other than that, get the heat working for the winter and im good with the interior. i plan on keeping it looking like it does, im not interested in restoring it and getting it looking like new. just make sure it's fun to drive and safe to take the kid for rides. my 6 yr old is going to "help" me with everything....or so he says, lol. he seems pretty excited about it...so we'll see. |

Re: New C10 in DFW - new pics
i found the SPID under the seat:
![]() also found this in the glove box that was sitting upside down on the seat, i just assumed it was empty so didnt mess with it, thought it was pretty cool: ![]() the backside of the warranty card: ![]() ETA: i have a question too, how can i tell if the truck came with air conditioning?? Also, ive been thinking about moving the gas tank out of the cab and putting in under the bed. has anyone done that and how did they like it? Last edited by pohnjarker; 08-26-2014 at 12:30 AM. |

Your SPID would have AC as an option and you would have a vent above your radio in the dash. As for the gas tank, seems to be a common mod. Many people put them between the frame rails under the back of the bed and put the filler in the bed. Seems you can use a blazer tank, or some people have even done tanks from Camaros. Just dig around a bit on the forums and you'll find plenty of info.

Re: New C10 in DFW
Looks like a great truck. May I suggest an LSx swap, an LQ9 with a 4l80e could get you near your goal without breaking the budget on a SBC build.
So where in DFW are you? Im in southern Tarrant county.
