slack upon takeoff from dead stop

Hey guys I am just curious if any of you guys have had this issue. for some time now I have been driving the truck around and sometimes I will have some slack when I takeoff from a dead stop. It doesn't bother me very much but it would be nice to know if its an easy fix before I drop the truck. Also have any of you guys have had a clunk sound when putting your truck in gear?
thanks guys and have a great week.

Only time I have had that issue is when I had a U joint (or carrier bearing) going bad. That is what I would check first.

I have the slack also and would like to know what it is... I'm thinking the bushings are out of the leaf springs?????

Re: slack upon takeoff from dead stop

yeah come to find out, it was a combo of u-joints and the carrier bearing support. I think it was mostly the carrier bearing since it was the stock one. the rubber that wrapped around the bearing would just move up and down side to side by hand. Theres no way you can do that now with the new one. It was a pain to get off but, definitely worth it.
