1970 Chevy SWB C-10

I've been on here for a while, and i've only been working on my truck for a short time, so I figured I would go ahead and post my progress.

So far I know that the truck is a 1970, the front end was swapped out with a 71 disc setup, and the rear end has a 72 3.73 axle.

I plan on doing a frame up rebuild.

I have a few things in the mail.
CPP 2/4 drop springs with shocks and adjustable track Bar
Wilwood rear disc conversion, matching caliper and disc for the front w/ master cylinder.
PorterBuilt upper and lower control arms, trailing arm cross member, and tubular trailing arms.

It's been a while since I posted anything, here is a current pic. I only get to work on it a couple weekends a month too...

Re: 1970 Chevy SWB C-10

Finally got to work on it again. After tons of wrong parts received and waiting for shipping I almost have a roller.

Re: 1970 Chevy SWB C-10

Nice start I really like all the custom frame and suspension parts.

I know what I'm about to tell you stinks but I can't in good conscience let someone make a choice they are guaranteed to regret later.
I wish CPP would stop selling those tubular engine stands because they are a nightmare when it comes to exhaust manifolds and headers, which is why they discontinued them and came out with a sheet metal design to replace them.
If you wish to use those tubular engine stands they will have to be slightly modified so that you won't have interference issues.
I noticed that you already painted them so if you aren't a welder/fabricator then I strongly recommend that you sell them and get the sheet metal version instead.
Please trust me I'm trying to save you a lot of heartache.
I really dig your shop man, I wish I had a shop like that.

Re: 1970 Chevy SWB C-10

Xeen: I appreciate the worries. I read all of the horror stories long AFTER I bought the motor mounts. Great huh? I figured I would give it a shot and see if it works with whatever headers I buy. If they don't work, i'll buy some others. I can weld just fine, but not sure if I trust myself enough right now for the mounts.

The shop is amazing. I'm able to put everything in it and still have room! The only problem is that it's just over an hour drive away so that's why I don't get to work on it as much as I would like to.

Mud Man: I have no idea! I've read tons of posts on which ones to use and i've forgotten everything since then. It's all about finding what will work with the 2.5/4 drop.

Re: 1970 Chevy SWB C-10

All you have to do to modify the tubular stands is cut the top plate in half then angle cut the tubes to accept the new down angle plate you will be adding.
You can use this picture for a reference to what I mean.

Re: 1970 Chevy SWB C-10

I was able to finish the rear suspension and install the gas tank this weekend. Brake lines are next.
