Chrome Plating
Anyone know of a decent chrome plater in the Ft Worth, TX area? My fender emblems are in decent shape, just dull. Hate to buy repops if I can get these re-plated at a good price.

This guy is in Houston however he has written several articles in the tech pages for the Stovebolt fellas might want to look him up. I have read his stuff but have no personal experience with him.

Re: Chrome Plating
If you have really straight pieces it might be worth it and if they are near perfect with just worn chrome and no dings to fight with the cost may be a bit more friendly.

Re: Chrome Plating
Straight as an arrow, no dings and you have to look really hard to see any pitting. They are just a bit dull and won't polish out enough to put back on a freshly restored truck unless replated...still $450 on the price. Guess I'll go with the repops and put these on ebay.

Re: Chrome Plating
Question.
I need to get some estimates to have these rechromed. Anybody have an idea of what a fair price is? I'd like to have some idea so when I start calling for prices, I know what is reasonable. I'd consider repros but they don't make the 3200 side emblems. I could get a repro for the front emblem though. Thoughts will be appreciated. |

Re: Chrome Plating
Repops rust quick FYI. I had a counterpart grill in my shop hanging on the wall for 2 years it was already starting to rust. There is a huge difference between cheap repop chrome and real tripple plating! If your build can justify it, stick with the oe stuff and get it rechromed.

Re: Chrome Plating
I have really enjoyed this thread! The PO or even earlier chromed the running boards, but they're starting to rust. Decisions decisions...but hey I don't even have the thing taken apart yet
