Re: Re-chroming truck parts
rechrome is usually a lot more expensive than buying pepop parts
especially on our trucks where it is a 5 yr cab and all the parts are repopped rechrome is for vehicles that have hard to find parts gmc grills are not repopped and you have no choice, but expect to pay 3 or 4 times what it cost for a new 59 chevy grill

I'm trying to keep things original as possible.. Would it be cheaper to buy a new GMC hubcap or get the originals re-chromed

Cheaper to buy new. Check this thread out for an idea on prices: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=642552

Re: Re-chroming truck parts
I'm buying two white walls for the back and getting the original rims redone so it'll have a little style

Re: Re-chroming truck parts
i agree with Ogre - i think you should get it in good running order first before you start gettin new parts for it .
it sound like you have had a difficult time getting it running - i think if you know a reputable shop or good mechanic - let em get that good ol truck hummin - sir i am not doubting your skills at all - i realize you have worked v v hard on that truck - sometimes it might be better to have a certified mechanic check it out - and then after your happy with it running --- then spend your money on gittin it just as you like it - and make your grandfather v v happy ( he prolly already is ) my so-called 02 cents worth |

Re: Re-chroming truck parts
Installing distributor.
http://speedprint.com/deves50/doc/enginetiming.pdf Make sure BEFORE your remove it the engine is at #1 cylinder top dead center with the rotor pointing at the #1 wire connector on the cap. Take a picture or make a detailed drawing of the distributor orientation to the block, you do not want to be a tooth off when you reinstall the new distributor. Then follow the instructions listed above. DO NOT turn the engine over until the new dist. is installed.
