Re: C20/30 Longhorn
If you have the passenger side tool box in the bed and it has a door on it you are golden.

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
Is the VIN on the driver side door opening (should be on the lower right as you look inside the truck) painted over? If so, mineral spirits to clean it off will at least tell you if you have C20 or C30. If it starts off CE2, it's a 3/4 - if it starts off CE3, it's a 1 ton.
An almost dry rag with just a whiff of mineral spirits, or even paint thinner, and a soft touch might allow you to gently scrub the SPID and uncover the codes. Keep in mind that they didn't put the clear covering over the SPID until 72, so be careful. If you can get the code or name off each line, a new correct SPID can be made if you want to restore it. I'd personally want to do just that. I'm assuming only Custom trim level due to the white bumper, but who knows. I see no fender trim holes, so am very curious, they all had them. Aftermarket fenders? Looks all original. Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the board. |

thank you all for that ( and the photo flip) ty i couldn't get it right
i have the vin plate cleared off and there is not a tool box on the pass side and it looks like there was a second tank in the bed but it has been removed before i got there ![]() on the Vin i have gotten this far, CE249b83---- which i have as meaning 4x2-gas-3/4ton-pickup w/bed-1969-baltimore i hope thats right , now i will include more pics real soon to help this out just have to find out what cam their on lol on the body front fenders look like they have been touched by a body guy .. due to the 1/4 in thick bondo i have found just infront of the doors everything is telling me that this was a original GOLD tone tuck with a white top ![]() |

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
So far it looks like a base trim 1969 C/20 Longhorn with a V8 based on what has been posted so far.
Most likely a camper carrier it whole life. Note the apparently extending step bumper and metalized bed floor. As far as being a valuable rare truck it isn't likely, they made 8797 C/20 Longhorns in '69 alone. In fact 69 was the highest production year for Longhorns.

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
well that makes a few choices a little easier ty i would still like to try to read to glovebox box tag with mineral oil just in case.
With little to no rust through out the whole truck this should be a fun one i am going to get the metal out of the bed and re-do the wood for sure so i think ill have some fun with this one then |

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
Looks like a great start for a restore. I'm so jealous of you guys out west who buy these trucks all not rusted! That truck would be a rare find around here for sure. Good luck with it!

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
Nice grab, gettin a clean Longhorn.
I've had the same issue inserting pics here as well. I just kept previewing my post until I got it right. It'll take a few minutes to get it sorted, you'll figure it out.

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
I'm jealous already.
my LH bed had the diamond plate welded in over the wood. it looks like yours came out pretty clean. if that is the original bench seat, there may be a build sheet tucked into the springs. that happens a lot. and welcome to the board.

Re: C20/30 Longhorn
![]() ![]() Ty for the idea on the build sheet, and for the pic flip i have no idea whats up with that ?! no luck in the springs though And yes the steel was bolted in but it was welded together so it was easy to come out the wood looked stock but was WAY rotted so it had to go, so now its on to making it move under its own power |
