66 Power Drum Brakes MC questions

We split the lines and went with a booster and dual reservour on the fatherin laws 66 about a year ago. I thought when we took it back to him the brakes were decent, but not great. I was in it today and the brakes are not stopping the truck well. The pedal is going down about half way and then the truck coasts to a stop. He says at times it has better brakes than other. It has a mild cam in the truck and I am going to route the vacuum line to the intake instead of the carburator and see if that helps. I am wondering if the Master cylinder I choose is not the best for this application. At the time I know i researched the correct MC, but does anyone have an Oreilly part number on what they have used with success. This is a drum drum setup. Thanks

I successfully used an m.c for a '69 half ton right off the shelf at OReilly's for my 4 wheel drum split system.

Did you put a power booster on it?

No booster. Can't remember if they even asked in O'reily's but I would have said manual because that was the plan from the get go.

I just took a look at that MC and that looks like what I put on the truck. Wonder if it might be bad. Might try changing it. I know I did a lot of research at the time, no more than these cost may just go with a new one and change my vacuum to the intake instead of the carb.

Did you use a drum/drum master and booster such as for a '67-'70 C10?

Is the booster pushrod bolted to the pedal in the stock hole or did you drill a new hole aprox 1" down?

Yes on the booster style, and I am going to have to look on the drilling the hole. Seems like I did that, but I will have to look at the pedal.

Is there a leak or maybe you need to bleed them again.
