what size tire/rim look good on a 59 stepside?
Was looking at rims for my truck, liked some of the rocket rims but they only come in 15 and 16 inch. I was thinking of using 17 inch rims on mine but only have the stock steelies on now. What looks good to you? Tire size variations front and rear? Was thinking of 17x 9 rears and 17x 7 or 8 fronts...
Whatta ya think? |

It's hard to fit a wide tire on the rear of these trucks because the fenders are cut so low.

8" with a 4 1/4" backspace on the standard width axle is about as wide as one should go on the rear. This will give good fender / bed clearance.
Tire size is another mater. Best to mock the tire in the fender at ride height and figure the wheel measurements. Then find the wheel that will work or have one made.
