K5 Blazer No Crank?
I have a 79 K5 that will not start.. It was running fine awhile back but when I went to start it one day it wouldn't crank. I tapped on the starter with a hammer which fixed the cranking issue but while I turned the key there was a clunking sound combined with the normal starter noise. I took the starter out to try and find anything wrong with it. It seemed fine, so I put it back in and now it's not cranking at all again. Along with no crank there's no parking brake light on the dash. Battery is good. Any ideas?

Re: K5 Blazer No Crank?
I think I may have found the problem.. I just don't know how to fix it. There's a thick red wire coming from the solenoid (similar to the battery cable) that isn't attached to anything.
Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. Any help as to where it goes or what the problem is, would be appreciated. |

I don't know, but I googled it. Funny when it brings you back to this site.
I found these here in this link. |

Re: K5 Blazer No Crank?
Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing it goes on the 'R' Ignition Terminal since there's nothing on mine. Either that or maybe the 'S' wire is broke somewhere. The problem seems to be with the starter not getting anything from the ignition switch. I turn the key and absolutely nothing. I'll try and figure it out when I get home.
