Mean Green,,, not quite...
Just took the wife on a ride in our 69 swb. Went to western Tennessee a couple of weeks ago one night after work and brought this home. It is a 69 with a small block and a saginaw four speed. She does not enjoy the four speed as much as I do but said it was a fun ride. I cannot decide what to do. It would make a cool low buck hot rod, especially with all the spare parts I have lying around,, but ,,, it would flip pretty quickly as well. I am going to give it a bath and clean up under the hood some.

I like that green. What would you do to it as a "low buck hot rod"?

Re: Mean Green,,, not quite...
Check out the motor for cubic inches and condition. If it is a 350 and has decent compression, throw on a set of stainless steel headers, aluminum intake, carburetor, go through or replace the distributor, plugs and wires, paint and detail under the hood. Get the brakes, steering and suspension in good condition. Lower it with springs, put on some steel wheels and good tires. Make sure the lights and wipers work like they should. Put a sarape on for a seat cover, dig out one of my used dash pads and some arm rests, replace the inside handles. Like I said,, "low buck'. Not that I have given any thought to it....

We all liked the truck looked good. Liking the low buck hot rod (aka low buck hulk) idea that's where we are headed.

Re: Mean Green,,, not quite...
Boy it sure is straight! Wouldn't take long to have it ready to go in the booth for fresh coats of color, but then that shoots the low buck thing in the foot for some people. Unless you know [or are ] someone who owns the body shop. I see some of the progress pics of some of the guys and maybe gals on here and their trucks getting worked on and I am jealous of all because I don't get to work on mine cause I have other work in front of the triplet of trucks. But I am down to two cars and one Silverado in front of them and I will be back on the old iron. Great looking truck. With you in the car business as well, you know it is hard to make it now a days so given the chance I say get out the spatula and go to flippin if given half the chance. That is the difference between a car dealer and a car collector. That is what I had to teach my kids when they were small and they would get emotionally attached to a truck or car I had built. Jim

Hey Jim. I really like these old trucks and enjoy the people but I do not get attatched to any of them. I wish I would/could find one that I feel the need to keep forever, I just don't think like that. Thanks, Fred.
