Just got my barn find '71 C20 on the road

I picked this up about 2 months ago, and just finally had a free weekend to take care of some (lack of) maintenance related issues and get some tires and wheels on it that look decent and roll true. I plan on a manual valve air ride setup this winter. It's really clean for being a PA/OH truck it's whole life! Just thought I'd share. What do you guys think?

She's definitely gonna stay LWB and 8 lug. I've been wanting to build a slammed 8 lugger for a long time!

Are you going with an Air Ride brand? I've wondered if they make one for an 8 lug.

Looks great!

I'm not going with any one particular brand. I'm spec-ing all the parts individually. It's gonna be a pretty budget setup with paddle switches. But the C20s with the trailing arm rear suspension are very similar to the C10 in suspension design. Many of the same parts you would use to bag a C10 will work in this application, I just don't think anyone makes a true "bolt-on" kit for them.

Re: Just got my barn find '71 C20 on the road

Thanks everyone! As a side note: Does anyone know if someone makes a receiver hitch that mounts between the frame rails and tucks behind the bumper/roll pan like (like the ECE hidden unit) but with a higher capacity than 500 tongue/5000 trailer? I really want to be able to tow my 7k gross car hauler behind it. I know the truck can do it, But I hate the way a receiver hitch looks hanging below the frame, and I don't want clearance issues with the planned ride height being several inches lower than it is now.

Excellent! There are more than enough short wheel bases out there....no reason to cut down a frame. I like the color too.

Re: Just got my barn find '71 C20 on the road

Hit up Boris/way2lo (I think) he'll set you up with a manual kit. I'm going to be doing mine hopefully soon. This is my 71 C20 with drop spindles in front.& lowering springs in back. Keep it long & low!!!

Re: Just got my barn find '71 C20 on the road

That does look awesome! It further solidifies my thought of needing chrome bumpers. What brand drop spindles are you using? Dropped 3/4 tons are killer!

I did contact Boris, and he helped me work up a list of components I'll need. And I've convinced my wife to buy me the paddle valve panel and front bags and plates for my up-coming birthday.
