Need help with RPO tag from 68 3/4 ton

Just trying to find out what this code means on my latest purchase. The model truck is a CE20934...nothing special there but has all the HD options I think you could have asked for...one option I am not familiar with is this....."4Z62EG Custom C&C Equipment"...I know this is a custom camper edition truck but what does that mean exactly? It has inside the cab what appears to be electric brakes for a trailer that looks as if it could be original. Is this possibly this option?

ANYONE? Can someone give me the 50 cent tour of the "Custom Camper" edition and what it means and came with?

That is "Custom Comfort and Convenience". It would include a full foam bench seat, upgraded vinyl trim on seat and door panels (seat may also have cloth inserts), cab courtesy lights (e.g. Door open, cab light comes on; note:not sure if this was a specific to 69-up or not, so a 68 may not include this), chrome accents on dash knobs and around windshield/vent windows, possibly extra sound insulation.

A custom camper included some of the HD items listed on your glove box, as well as camper wiring, and a "Custom Camper" fender badges.

I don't think electric brakes were an option as the wiring I alluded to was for camper harnesses and dual batteries, not brakes. A dealer may have installed this when new, giving it a "factory" look.

Oh and welcome, got pics?

Shoot CPNE You beat me to it!!!!

This is what I was going to say!

Custom Comfort and Convenience Option should include:

Full-depth foam seat cushion with fabric and vinyl trim.

Vinyl trim on the doors with arm rests.

Padded sunshade on the right side.

Cigar lighter.

Extra insulation on the underbody.

It should also have outside..

Chrome trim on the grill inserts.

Bright moldings around windshield, rear window and window vents.

Color-keyed vinyl floor mat.

Chrome inserts on instrument panel knobs

“Custom” emblem on the door and “Chevrolet” emblem on the glove box.

Custom camper option is separate from the custom comfort and convenience option.

It includes upgrades to the suspension (I’ll try to figure out exactly what.) and a “Custom Camper” emblem on the front fenders.

Have any pictures of your truck????

Last one....work has begun on the truck to restore it to original...all numbers match so it makes a good choice in my opinion. 327, 3 spd, power nothing, HD everything, 4.56 gears...wow!

Awesome truck and I like your plans for it! Interesting that it does not have camper mirrors. Also those roof clearance lights are not factory, but could have been a dealer add-on. Got pics of the interior?

The body is actually in really good shape...I have started some sanding but not body work yet...one cab corner and door rocker is the only major/minor issues on the bodywork. For $500 bucks I feel it was a good find...runs great!

Nice find zigzag.

Are those the old split rims? You may want to address those due to safty issues.

Where are you from?

I have removed the mirrors but need to remove the small ones I am guessing are add ons and fill the holes. If the cab lights on top are not factory...they will go too.

Those small mirrors are factory standard, what did you remove? Does your glovebox RPO, indicate "west coast mirrors" as an option?

The roof lights are not factory, nore do they look like the dealer installed ones, though a dealer could have used whatever style light was available to them I suppose. The GM supplied delaer installed roof lights for 67/68 were teardrop in shape, and never factory installed. In 69, GM did supply factory installed clearance lights.

Rear bumpers are another topic altogether. Many dealerships installed their own bumpers. Yours looks to be one of them, especially designed as a front "porch" for the camper.

A factory step and tow bumper will be hard to find in nice shape, but the factory "sport" bumper can be bought new aftermarket as well as the bracket s to attach. A chrome sport bumper would look nice on your truck IMO. Aftermarket step and tows will bolt on, but do not look right IMO.

Here is a pic of a truck with the Jr west coast mirrors often found on 67/68 trucks. If the mirrors you took off do not look like these then they may be aftermarket.

The mirrors I removed do look like those...mount to the top of the door and then again on the door edge where a typical mirror would attach. Not sure about the west coast option...will look again. The color is blue and white with green interior...nice color combo huh? The seat is in poor condition but i will have the recovered...door panels aren't bad...will repaint the interior as well as add new dash pad and so on. More to follow!

I'm not sure what direction you want to go with the mirrors as either is factory correct. The west coast style is more in keeping with a camper equipped truck, but you may want to go with the small round ones if you don't plan on installing a camper or towing a wide load.

I don't know why both are on your truck, but it would be factory correct to remove the small mirrors and just use the bolts and backing plate holding them on to "fill" the holes. This is the way the factory did it if the holes were pre-drilled and then the optional mirror was installed.

zigzag, I was going to ask if you were from Jackson county by the 39 tag on your truck, but then I read your post about being from Athens and the truck came from PRV.

The custom camper was nothing more than H/D tires, optional H/D springs or over loads, H/D shocks, and a front sway bar. That and the badges.
Roof clearance lights were in fact an assembly line option, however, those are not correct.
