swapable one peice drive shaft

I am looking for a drive shaft that I could just mount up and not have to worry about a 2 peice line.....my question is who made the correct length for this swap?....I really don't want to have one made....I hear it's expensive......but someone told me a chevy van from the mid 70's will work as well as a caprice from the mid 70's

Well you don't say whether you have a short or long bed or what tranny you have so it is hard to say. But here is what I have heard.......so don't take it as anything but hear say....

I have a Short bed and have heard that a driveshaft from a late 70's early 80's 2 door caprice will work. Don't know if the u-joints well or not.

I have a driveshaft from a 86 Caprice Wagon that I plan to have shortened to fit my truck once I install a 700r4. It might fit a long bed as is but I really don't know. I got it with a 700r4 that I bought to install in my 69 swb. The guy threw in the driveshaft for $20 so I knew I couldn't go wrong with it for that price.

Also you need to cut out the bottom of the cross member that the drive shaft goes thru so that the 1 piece won't rub when the truck is loaded.

Im runnin a swb with a longtail 350 and i have a driveshaft out of a 2 door chevvelle most of them big cars run the same type of u joints that these half ton trucks do unless there inisde keepers that might be the only difference.

Small block in stock location with a Th350 short shaft, short wheel base truck with coils at stock height.
4 foot 10 inch drive shaft.

You're best just going to a driveline shop and having yours shortened. The added plus is that it will be balanced, they'll install new u-joints and you'll be good to go. Around here it's only about $150 complete.
