Trans questions
So I have a 72 with the 402 bb and TH400. Needless to say, with the 4:11 rear it does not like the freeway. My question is, does anyone know the best transmission option for this motor? I don't want to swap the rear end out as I plan to tow with the truck. I'm not apposed to swapping to a manual transmission either. Wasn't sure if the T56 would work or something similar. I thank everyone for your time and input.

If it were me, I would look for a used Gear Vendors overdrive unit. It will bolt right where the tailpeice of the T400 is. Its bulletproof and will give you six forward speeds and an overdrive. https://www.gearvendors.com/trucks-towing.html
