60-66 FAQ Index
--- Beginning of Section 1 --- Introduction Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ) Index thread in The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Message Board You will see other users within the 60-66 board refer to this document as : the FAQ, the 60-66 FAQ, the Index, FAQ Index, etc.. The primary purpose of this post is to index threads within the 1960-66 Message Board that contain useful information with their subject, link and hopefully a brief description of the type of information the thread contains.There is a lot of information buried in this forum. The search does a good job finding terms, however it cannot inform you which threads have the useful information within. Hence when we come across a really good thread with golden nuggets of knowledge about a topic, we try to list it here, in a relevant category. We focus on threads that have all of the information here on the server for the forum. This means text, photos, etc.. That way we do not have to worry about what changes external sites such as photo hosting services decide to do in the future. All of the links listed below and above the External Links area in Section 3 at the bottom of this article, point to specific threads here on the forum unless specifically noted otherwise. Most of the threads are here within the 1960-1966 Message Board, others are within the FAQ Truck Tech section. If you happen to come across some great information in a thread that is not listed and linked here already, please let us know in the old 60-66 FAQ suggestion thread with the link, topic heading and a brief note about the neat information that is contained within the thread. The current FAQ Archivist will check it out and try to figure out where best to put it within the FAQ! This FAQ is only as good as the indexed threads listed here, so help us out! If you see a new forum member(or an old forum member proclaiming to be new to '60-'66 trucks) wandering around lost and bewildered in the 1960-66 Message Board forum, please direct them to this thread so they will know where to get started with their project! This will help you later on when you are trying to find something in a hurry. Date that any significant part of this document was last wrenched on: 09/30/2014 This thread is a continuous and ever evolving work in progress as fascinating, useful, interesting and humorous threads are being created, found and added to the list. The forum software has a set limit of 50,000 characters per post, so the 1960-1966 FAQ Index is broken up into six sections, for now(06/2014). Section 1This is the Section you are currently viewing. In this post are a lot of linked threads about how to do things here on the forum, where to go to learn more about the forum, etc.. There is also an outline of the entire 60-66 FAQ Index, so you can quickly look up categories. Additionally, there are explanations of other areas of the forum you should familiarize yourself with. See the outline below for which section has what... it is a good guideline! Tips on navigating this very long thread : In Firefox, look at the tool bar up top, Edit / Find or just hit CTRL + F to make the find Find box pop up.Now look around and locate the "Find box" on your screen, sometimes it pops up top, sometimes at the bottom, depending on how it is set within the browser. Click into the box or tab to the window until the cursor appears there. Then you can type in a category or sub-section of a category, exactly as it is listed in the outline below to search and jump up and down within the four sections of this 60-66 FAQ Index thread a lot faster! This will save a lot of scrolling up and down. You can hit 'next' to go down within the thread or 'previous' to go back up within the thread to find that word or phrase you entered. The projects and builds, sub forum of the 60-66 trucks section A build thread is when a user starts a thread on a particular project truck and then provides a running commentary as to the progress of the build. They include photos of modifications, show how fixes or repairs were made using what tools and materials. 60-66 Suburbans The 60-66 Suburbans sub-forum is an area that focuses on the things that are different about the 'Burbs from the trucks. The floors, rear doors or gates, interior seats, door hinges, side glass and other items... The 67-72chevytruck.com forum is quite large. The list of forums is quite extensive. However, many of those forums, have sub-forums! So, it will be worth your while to explore them all and get a feel for the place. Sometimes this place is like an old parts warehouse or book store. There are lots of nooks and crannies to check out... where the good information is lying around. It takes awhile to get a feel for this place and figure out where everything lives.
