Hard start after engine warms up

I've asked this before but have tried a few different things. So I swapped the 305 in my truck out for a mild 350 and it hasn't been drivable since. Engine will start and run pretty good but once it's been ran awhile it will turn over super slow. I've tried a newer battery, I've had my starter rebuilt and i've bumped my initial timing down to 12 degrees. Then engine is pretty mild stock bottom end a mild cam dual plane intake headers etc.. so I don't think it that's I need a mini starter. Anybody have any suggestions/is there a way to test the starter wiring?

Re: Hard start after engine warms up

put a amp draw on it and see what you get. if i recall you should see 250-300 amps. more then that and something is wrong. do cold and hot. also could still be a bad starter with heat soak

Re: Hard start after engine warms up

Starter is a stock 350 starter with an aftermarket heat shield installed due to headers

Re: Hard start after engine warms up

heat shields dont always work the best. my 454 with headers and pto still give me a heat soak problem. better starter in in the works for that. may want a gear redution starter. have had good luck with them. i would still put the amp draw on it and see what you get. just cause the starter is rebuilt does not mean its good to go. **** happens.
