exhaust restrictor tabs

Does anyone use those exhuast restrictor tabs that come with the fel pro intake set, is the point to keep the fuel cooler? does it take the truck longer to warm up?

I'm assuming you're speaking of the tabs in the middle of the gasket. They are to slow or restrict the exhuast flow under the carb, to warm it &/or allow the choke to get heated so it can open.

When the engine is cold, the heat riser closes. The engine starts and the exhaust is forced thru the intake to the other manifold. the tab should be placed on the OPPOSITE gasket compared to the heat riser.

Most have the riser on the R.S. manifold. 67-68s have them on the D.S. 72's have a restriction in the right pipe at the donut instead of a heat riser.

I've always been told to plug them off...but I have no heat riser at all.

you're right, longhorn man, if you have other-than-stock set up, it may work best. Especially if you going for high performance, with no regard for cold driveability, you want cold intake air.

It comes down to your choke set up. Manual choke or electric choke, it won't matter much. Divorced choke, (stock set-up), it will matter.
