This whole entire subject used to be a can of worms until CPP stepped up and rectified the situation.
It's not as much about the header as much as it's about engine stand clearance for the headers. Here is what I have learned while installing my LS 5.3L. CPP's sheet metal engine stands are the best out right now they are very strong and most importantly give you tons of clearance for any exhaust manifold or header you want to run. They will clear Camaro, and TBSS exhaust manifolds, both GM and clones. The TBSS in both GM and Hooker ceramic coated clone is your best bet if you want to go with exhaust manifolds they flow like crazy. They will also clear just about any header you want to put on it, I recommend stainless steel. If you currently have any other engine stands send them back and get the CPP sheet metal engine stands and avoid a HUGE headache while you have the chance. If you plan to run A/C you need to relocate the compressor to the top passenger side of the engine using a Holley relocation kit. Use the CPP "LS Swap Engine Mount Plate (stock location)" part# LS1-KS. I recommend you run 2.5" stainless dual exhaust with an H-Pipe. I also recommend running dual 2.5" in/out, 14" to 18" long, 3.5" or 4" body stainless resonators to eliminate harmonic resonance so you can use your normal speaking voice inside the cab of the truck while driving around, it is important to note that these will not ruin the hot rod sound everyone loves. I know that isn't what you asked but it is very important that you start out with the right information. Here are some helpful links for you. There was a discount, when they first did the design of the Doug Thorley's for the LS engine line. Mine are in my basement, waiting on the completion of the project.

Thanks for all the information. I have been trying to decide what to use to do this swap with the least amount of problems. That is wht I asked the people on the board that have experiance.

I dont think you have to relocate the AC I think it looks better on the bottom . Might have to cut a little on the frame (1/2 ") depends on the compressor also
