High Beam Issue 95 Sierra

just picked up a 1995 RCSB Sierra. awesome little pickup.

driving home yesterday evening it got dark enough to use the lights. the low beams are way better than i expected, but the high beams are terrible.

low beams seem to be adjusted great, but the high beams are pointing high and not casting light very well to the sides or directly infront of the pickup. driving down my gravel road i noticed on one of the cottonwoods there was a pretty good direct beam about 50-60' up in the tree.

if the low beams are adjusted properly, how can the high's be off so bad?

i plan on upgrading the wiring on the headlights and at the same time doing the 4-hi mod.

Check to see if the bulbs are seated properly in the headlight housing. If the person putting them in, did not get all of the tangs on the bulb into the socket, it will beo offset and do just what you said it is doing.

Frank this was my first thought, also, I'm planning an oil change tonight, so I will pull the housing and investigate. Appreciate the input.

The hi and lo beams in my 97 are in separate housings....I can see how one may be out of adjustment. Pull up 4 ft from a wall and see where they sit against it

Re: High Beam Issue 95 Sierra

I have had a couple of these (93 and 95) and I find that with the highs where I want, the low beams are WAY to low! Maybe not as bad as you describe but it was a choice between decent high or low beams. I just searched out a set of TC Eleganta (I think that is right) headlights for my '93 suburban because I hated the factory set so bad. The pattern is MUCH better with these.

Re: High Beam Issue 95 Sierra

kudzupatch, i may have to look into another set of housings. it has "diamond cut" or whatever aftermarket housings. i pulled them loose yesterday and noticed that one of the black pieces behind the headligh was broke where the stud goes through the headlight. i don't think this is 100% the problem, but it's not helping either.
