adjusting tranny shifts possible?

I've got an 06 GMC crew cab Z71 with the 5.3, auto od w/4.10 gears. It has about 140,000 miles on it. It's a real nice truck but it shifts kinda lazy so to speak. I've not been into one of these trans and haven't use a programmer before. My question is can the shift firmness and timing be altered by maybe a tech tool these days? Just thinking I might want to firm it up a bit possibly.

At 140,000, I wouldn't change a thing. Factory 4L60E's have been known to last 300,000 with stock programming.

Re: adjusting tranny shifts possible?

Hey CB. I am hesitant to do anything to it although the fluid is bright red and clean. My 2000 GMC is all stock and shifts much better than this 06.
I just pulled the camper with it and thought tightening up the shifts might help keep the heat down and make it last longer. I certainly don't want to do anything to harm it.

Most of what your feeling is Torque Management, A lot more Advanced/Intrusive on a '06 Compared to a '00.

To do what you want would require a Custom Tune & Torque Management turned down. A Hand Held might give you what you want, Not Sure??

Re: adjusting tranny shifts possible?

Well I should probably just leave it alone then. I sure don't want to mess it up. Thanks.
