My 65 fleet side "StormTropper"
Wanted to post a build thread I'm getting started on it here in a little bit progress won't be the fastest in the world due to life and the budget being cut in half due to buying a house. However I've been cruising the forum for a few months and have come to learn some pretty cool stuff. Anyway on to the pictures because that's what we all really want to see
I picked this bad boy up a few days ago bought it sight unseen from a buddy of mine. Came with early classic drop spindles, ccp drop springs, early 80's front disc conversion and the floor boards have already been replaced the right was as far as I can tell. Here she is! Loaded up on the trailer Got her back to a buddy's shop yesterday to drop the trans and see what's up with the factory tq converter. The bed side is a little rough I dont know why but everyone wants to cut these doors up and put speakers in the the passenger side is so bad I'm not even going to post it. It just makes me shake my head Well that's where I'm at by the end if today hopefully she will be driving. She was my buddy's dd for 7 months 80 miles one way so she should run great! Plans for the truck are to lay it out on the factory 15's with fat white walls, flat black interior with gloss accents, flat white primer job on the skin on the truck and throw a bump stick in it,a nice locker in the rear end or swap to a 9" rear. Every thing I've built before has been newer model stuff and they all include built trans and turbos usually big ones haha. Like I said it will take a while but it's gonna be a nice cruiser. |

Re: My 65 fleet side "StormTropper"
Anybody have any starter alignment issues on their motors? I can start the truck 5-10 times with no issues. Go drive it turn the motor off and have to realign the starter to get it back in spec with the flywheel

Re: My 65 fleet side "StormTropper"
Few updates today. Got out and investigated the starter issue found that the starter bolts were worn pretty bad so I replaced those. Also had a new fly wheel that I installed just for piece of mind so I know it's not the flex plate. I believe it's the starter but I'm not real sure. Going to shave the old gas cap place tomorrow along with ordering some new window felt from britgers trucks. Also I read where there was a door seal off a honda that fits our truck does anyone know about that?
New on on the left And both the toys. Can't wait to haul them both to a show |

You have room to add boost under the hood.

Re: My 65 fleet side "StormTropper"
Few little up dates I got the starter issue fixed turns out the housing was warped pretty good got it all swapped out. And back in the truck also got the wheels powder coated I mixed up a little different color if I don't like it later on I can change it no problem that's the perks of owning a coating shop lol. Fixes some other misc stuff I'm getting read to cruise to the vintage racing this weekend with the kontinentals
Got the gas door shaved Shot of the wheels New starter housing It's coming together she's still not much to look at yet but hey it runs and drives now |
