Bench Seat Springs
Any suggestions on obtaining the drivers side, seat bottom springs for a 1965 bench seat. I've looked through the post and am seeing they are getting harder to come by. I'm in Northern CA, 95128...?.

Re: Bench Seat Springs
I need to know the same thing- need to replace some springs on the left side of a seat bottom. Are they the same for standard and custom (full foam) seats ?

Re: Bench Seat Springs
The seat springs are completely different for the custom seat and the standard seat and I could not find any replacements other than another seat.

Re: Bench Seat Springs
If you guys aren't going for absolute originality for restoration points, or something along those lines, I would ditch the metal springs and go with a multi-density seat foam and contour it the way you want. It will be so much more comfortable and last way longer - similar to how upholsterers would build out a Glide Engineering seat, or similar. I had my bench seat re-done with a high density foam as the base with a lower density foam on top with all of the springs removed. Ron Mangus shaped it for bolsters and lumbar support and covered it in leather with a simple pattern. This iteration of my benchseat is almost 13 years old now with no degradation to the foam:

Re: Bench Seat Springs
I think I have a few left and right side springs for the non-deluxe seat. I won't be home until tomorrow, but for the cost of shipping, you are welcome to them. Shoot me a PM.

Re: Bench Seat Springs
Thanks for the offer. I'm in for the non-deluxe springs. The truck in need of them is nowhere near me right now and I'm not sure how many I need though.
I agree with the idea of going with full foam but this truck needs to stay all original. I'll wait for Gordy to respond however. Since he started this thread he has dibs. |
