when i apply the gas pedal in my truck my dash lights come on, my dad says it is a short, i am just wondering where to start looking for this so i can fix it.

Check for a bad ground.....i had to run a wire from the rear metal part of my insturment cluster to a clean ground on the dashboard to get it to work correctly.

I'd start by checking around the throttle linkage for wires that may have been damaged by rubbing or pinching.

Assuming you mean when you apply the BRAKE pedal the dash lights come on, check the rear brake/tail light 1157 bulbs to be sure that one of them is not installed correctly.

I'll bet that one of the tail lights has the wrong bulb in there. An 1156 instead of an 1175.
Remove your tail light lenses and look at the bulbs real close. If there is only one filiment in the bulb, then you need to replace it.

well one of my bulbs is out i am going to replace it after work tommarow could that be the problem

i replaced that bulb and still nothing, i tried grounding the dash and nothing I have now noticed also that when i apply the brake pedal not only do the dash lights come on but so does the left front side marker comes on and when i turn on the lights that side marker comes on but very dim, and after all this my blinkers wont work neither, and i put new flasher in today.

sounds like a ground on one of your lites somewhere,or one of the front marker lites,just a thought

I also believe you're dealing with a classic grounding problem....I'd go around to all the light sockects and make sure the grounds are solid.... make sure there's good fresh metal where the ground screw is.... use sandpaper or emery cloth to create a good metal to metal connection at every ground point.

Parking lights and brake lights are not on the same circuit. There is a meesed up wire or bulp 'leaking' electricity fromt eh brake light circuit into the parking light circuit.
