Re: Chatanooga CL JEWEL?!?

WOW! I want it!

I'd love to see the SPID on that one. You simply DO NOT find "loaded" 68 pick ups. 71/72's are easy to find loaded up with options... 68... not so much.

Now you're talking my language.....LOL
I like them when they are found very stock and original....and loaded!!
That is probably the nicest example of that model I can recall seeing....certainly relative to price.
Somebody buy this....

Re: Chatanooga CL JEWEL?!?

I spoke with the owner. He bought it in Southern Cali 15 years ago from the original owner. I'm going to go up tomorrow and take a look at it. Here are pics of the SPID. Appears to be the real deal...

I was stunned to see that it is a leaf spring rear...

Nice truck! He added the buddy buckets. In 67 they were standard for a CST, in 68 they would be called out on the SPID. Wouldn't stop me from buying it though

Built in Fremont - so that certainly adds credibility to what he is saying.

Oh d@mn... I guess I'll let it slip by since it has that stupid buddy bucket seat in it . The original owner must have done it, because the current owner says he hasn't done anything other than standard maintenance and drive it on rare occasions. He's 77.

Re: Chatanooga CL JEWEL?!?

People have no idea what a #1 condition vehicle is. This is NOWHERE near it. So for him to even refer to the KBB of a #1 is just silly. I have one vehicle that is near #1, but it has 300 miles on it. By the time it had 20, it wasn't #1 anymore.

As to whether its worth $25K, not to me, but it's a clean and pretty truck in the photos.

While you are up there looking at it, check the build date. It's possible if it was built in 67 that the Buddy Buckets went in with the CST before they were notified on the assembly line, even more likely if it was built near the "switch-over" from 67 to 68.

My 72 was built in 71, can't remember what month but it's on the driver's door jamb.

Re: Chatanooga CL JEWEL?!?

@davepl
He didn't refer to the truck as a #1. Looks like he simply made reference to the price of a #1 as a comparison or justification for asking 25k for his truck. Many people reference KBB or NADA prices when listing a vehicle for sale. Just sayin.....

Re: Chatanooga CL JEWEL?!?

If you're coming up to chattanooga and have pockets that deep... I know of a black 72 Cheyenne Super swb that was built at the truck shop in crossville that's located currently in ringgold and for sale. It's a little more then 25k... But I've seen a lot of 67-72 chevy trucks, and this is definitely one of the nicest I've ever seen! Black with red interior, buckets, cruise, tilt, ac, tach, speed warning, Big Block, Automatic. The bottom of the truck is cleaner then the top of most of the trucks you'll see at shows.

Not knocking the 68 in the CL ad... She looks like a peach.
