Por-15 frame prep?

I bought some Por-15 that Im going to brush onto my frame. What does it take to degrease and clean it all. Where can I buy some degreaser that will really work and maybe some metal etcher too? Do I need to do all of this? I read on the website but dont really want to buy the prep stuff from them. Thanks for help.

go to the dollar store or supermarket buy the cheapest oven-cleaner they have spray it on wait an hour spray some more on let it sit another half hour or so and either pressure wash it or use a hose on it and you'll be ready to paint

What about paint that is still on the frame? Does it really need to be removed?

I second the oven cleaner trick. I sprayed 2 heavy coats about an hour apart on my 250 motor that was completely black from grease, then let it sit over night before spraying with a hose. I only needed to do some touch-up cleaning in the hard to reach areas, and the motor looks new.

Por-15 needs rust to fully bond, so just use a wire brush to knock off the loose scale before using this stuff. Wear rubber gloves and a vapor mask as the stuff is a carrcinogin, alao will not come off of skin for several weeks.
