Custom made wood dash & door trim panels

Would be very interested if someone could make custom wood instrument panel. glove box door/ door panel facings for a '72 pickup. I'd prefer 1/8" walnut or oak plywood

Not sure for 72 but if you wanted to try they make 4X8 sheets
of "almost" plywood with an oak face
i was thinking to try and trace it out on poster board
then to the thin paneling, i've cut it before with a large drywall knife

i also have a custom wood shop i stop at sometimes
they will cut a board edge into very thin strips to "square it off"
and discard piles of different kinds of wood strips
this is strips up to like a 2X4 edge

Was hoping someone know of a shop that can cut out such piece with precision. I just don't have the tools or access to same to do a precise job.

I did this in my truck, i was trying to come up with a way to hide my radio and my uncle used the original black trim to make this insert for me and i attached it with leather for hinges and two small chains on the inside to hold it at a 90 degree angle when i have the wood down to access the radio. Everything works great with it except that the velcro used to hold it when i close it got hot and the glue came off the back, ill have to fix that soon i may just use some gorilla glue. What i really wanna do is make it motorized so it opens and closes on its own but i dont have a clue how to do it. Heres some pics.

Btw that dash is the original fiberglassed and bondo over to fix the cracks and holes. I couldnt afford a new one so tried to fix it that way, so far its holding up good i just wish i could get some nice covers for the speaker holes, i cant find 5 1/4 covers though.

WOW!!!!!!!!! After a year and half, it seems like alot of us are on the same page. I still have these custom pieces sitting in my basement. Have not thought about them much since I decided to go a differetn direction on the truck's interior. I might have to re-visit this on my 77' SWB 4wd build though.............Hoep all of you guys had a good 4th of July

Great idea, my truck just got a new sterio, might have to steel that idea. Well done.
