The tcases behind the HD trucks with Allison’s are the NVG 261 manual shift and NVG 263 electric shift. Both have LH front outputs. The Topkick/Kodiac 4x4 uses an electric shift NVG 273 with a RH front output. I believe this is a divorced unit. Lee Miller figured an ingenious way of using a Dodge 241 with 261/263 pieces to create a RH front output that would bolt to an Allison. Pretty dang slick deal. While 205's are awesome, these later model aluminum tcases aren't too shabby either.

Re: K10 8.1L brain transplant MEFI-4 to P59 ECM
Thanks for the late-model info.I don`t pretend to know about them.I`m real impressed with Lee`s adaptation/modification,too...very much.I have no complaints against the NP241.I`ve had four with those:`90 Blazer,`91 Suburban,`92 K3500,and`95 K3500...right & lefts.I had one start popping out of 2Hi when coming off the hiway/lettin`off.It was bad syncronizers.I bought a crate NP241 and kept the old for a spare. Then, totaled the truck. So,I have the fresh one and the one that needs work. Both trucks were 5spd manual and worked daily, with a fair amount of off road use.I`m hanging onto them to have my options open. The one in the`92 is original with 265,000 on it.The only real place a 205 will shine over these cases is resistance to fracture when into the rough stuff up under your rig. They`re less bulky, though, with better clearance.I`m sure the 205 is ultimately stronger internally, but doubt the difference would ever be seen.

Re: K10 8.1L brain transplant MEFI-4 to P59 ECM
Well, we made another trip to the mountains to an area called Hermit Pass this past Sunday to give the new and improved 8.1L a test run and it ran GREAT! Much more power! I am very pleased with the outcome.
Unfortunately, my camera man over served himself a bit too much rum and only got 2 short usable video clips of my truck. I did get a pretty good one of my buddies Ram Charger though (it sounds like the General Lee or something from a 70's car chase movie ). These were taken at the beginning of the trail where a very long and deep snow drift covered the road and it took me about 5 runs to finally break through the other side of the drift. About a mile up the trail the snow got deeper and deeper and deeper to the point it was even with the top of the front bumper. Lucky, it was pretty powdery and somewhat easy to power through, which I ended up turning around about a ¼ mile past where the Ram Charger and Jeep Rubican stopped. I don’t have any pictures after the first snow drift because my good ole camera man filled up the memory card with useless video. Fun trip!
