Choice between TH350 or 700r4 transmission
I've got a situation where I have an internal failure in my 700r4, either the 2-4 band or the 3-4 clutch pack (won't go into overdrive - confirmed by tranny shop). My truck is a 1967 C10 SWB Stepside with a new crate Chevrolet Performance 350/290hp. Majority of my driving will be around town with some highway driving. Anyone have any suggestions on the better tranny option TH350 or 700r4? Also, what are the shift rpm/mph for each gear in the TH350, thanks.

Welcome to the board and check out the C-10 Club when you get a chance. Now id say keep the 700r4 and get it rebuilt or buy a new one. TH350s are ok, but your going to eventually hit the freeway and that overdrive will come in handy. JMO |

I would keep the 700R4 since it is already set up for it. You can't beat overdrive in these trucks.

Re: Choice between TH350 or 700r4 transmission
I prefer the th350 or th400, but the overdrive would be nice on the highway. The shift points are adjustable in the th350 by swapping out the weights and springs in the govner. I have mine shifting at 5000 rpm at WOT but is a performance oriented truck with 450hp/470tq. I cannot remember what the factory shift points are.
