Fuel pump question...

Long story short, my truck died tonight and I had to get it towed home (glad my buddy lives 2 houeses down). I think my electric fuel pump isn't turning on. I took it off the chassis and hooked it directly to my battery and it turns on. But when I turn on the ignition no fuel is coming thru the line. I followed the "hot" wire to I think the engine bay on the drivers side above the oil filter on the engine it goes into a plug with another wire. Anyone know how these work? The engine is a 350. Help please!!! Is this a switch or??? Thanks.

Short across the switch and see if it runs. If it does then replace the switch.
