Patina clean up
How do you guys clean up your patina on your trucks? I love they it looks but i dont want it to be grungy just old and worn if the makes any sense.

A lot of people use CLR and a scotch brite pad. Then flat clear coat.

50/50 mix CLR and water. Scotchbright green pad. Coat of clear way applied to finish the job. I live in AZ. No need to clear coat for me.

Scotchbrite is way too rough!! Use 0000 steel wool like oem4me posted. CLR works great to remove rust stains.

I used a bunch of 3000 grit Trizact pads then followed that with McGuire's show car glaze to moisturize the paint then waxed. It's best to let the glaze sit as it tends to brighten the paint color. I was striving to minimize paint removal on my truck. I read a thread on autogeek.net I think it was that headed me in that direction. the attached pictures give an idea of how it removed the chalky oxidation and it actually has a bit of shine now. The last picture is an older pic taken in 2010 but it will show you what I did.

Make sure that you post some before and after pictures. endlessearth put me onto this same CLR route some months ago. I just have not gotten that far yet as there are other pressing things on my plate. I also have some cracking of the paint that I am not sure how to address.
