Accelerator pedal swap question

Hey all,

Somewhere on here I saw a good writeup on swapping the mechanical linkage accelerator pedal to an 80s cable actuated style.

I got my pedal, just cant find the writeup again. I'm sure it's relatively simple to figure out, I'd just like to read a bit before I start drilling holes.

Anybody have it marked or remember where it is? I looked in the FAQs but didnt see it.

Re: Accelerator pedal swap question

Here's a link from Markeb01 http://www.persh.org/pickup/CableThrottle.htm
I know there's more on this site but I couldn't find them either. I stole my suspended installation from Markeb01 and my 73 up brake pedal swap to match from doobiebro but I did mine a little differently. Here's a pic of mine. I'll be happy to take more pictures or offer any info/help that I can. I'm not smart enough to think of this stuff on my own I have to copy it from other people but that's what I like about this site - everyone is happy to help & provide info when needed.

Re: Accelerator pedal swap question

Anyone know if this pedal is the same as what is found on 72 chevy full size cars? It looks the same as what appears in the pictures here. I'm just unsure if the lever rod length or shape is different.

Re: Accelerator pedal swap question

I did this swap as well, sorry no pics. It is pretty easy to do and does away with lots of linkages, etc. Nice way to clean up the engine compartment a little and much smoother pedal feel.

Re: Accelerator pedal swap question

I'm not sure if the Chevy cars are the same but to be honest my pedal assembly actually came out of a full size Pontiac. I did have to heat & bend the rod on both sides of the pivot to make it fit my truck and the pedal itself came from a Nova. There just weren't any 68-72 Chevy trucks in the junk yard when I wanted to start the project.

Good to know, there are plenty of 71-72 cars around that I can get the assembly from but trucks seem to be hard to find. Also I've found a few people selling the pedal assembly (cars) but not the cable portion. Are the cables available new anywhere, and if so does someone have the measurement?

Sorry not trying to hijack this thread but figured the OP may be looking for the identical info.

Re: Accelerator pedal swap question

I pulled my pedal assembly from an 81 C10, looks simple enough. It's just nice to see where others have mounted it.

I think that markeb01 writeup is the one I saw.... thanks. If anyone has another one, post it up.

Re: Accelerator pedal swap question

The throttle cables are VERY short. I used one out of a 75 or so C10 but it had a rectangle hole rather than square. I did as Mark said and filed the round hole to fit. I'll try and get a measurement and pics posted on Wednesday.
