inexpensive fleetside repop tailgates?

Any idea where I can get a cheap fleetside tailgate for my 64? I can find good deals on stepside, I have been scouring craigslist and ebay. only a couple of used ones pop up and they are tons of money or pickup only.

They are for 58-66 only.

No such thing as a cheap straight ( Or even close to) original Fleetside tailgate.

I am going with one from Mar-K, they are as close to perfect as I can get AND, I dont have to do any body work on the fool thing!

Mar-K is the only way to go. It fits, you prime it and paint it. When you add up all of the time to body work a Chinese knock off , weld material to one side to get it to fit, port-a-power your bed to make it work etc. The Mar-K one is money well spent.

Re: inexpensive fleetside repop tailgates?

Just looked up Mar-k fleetside tailgates. Actually, I TRIED to look them up, but didn't see any stock fleet gates listed. I did see something listed with a custom "handle and latch", but no stock repro fleet tailgate. Did I miss it?

Re: inexpensive fleetside repop tailgates?

I found it on classictruckbeds.com. Looks like the sell for $549. I paid $750 for the truck. I would hate to pay even close to that much for a tailgate.

All the old used 66 tailgates are all being bought up to be used in wood benches and wall décor around here.

Looked there, and same thing. No repro tailgates. what am I missing? Why only a fleetside gate with stepside lettering and custom latch/handle thingy?

Holy moly, Wow! Yes it would, but I'm leaving mine alone. I say save it for just the right truck.

Forum member, Pdxhall, has one he was hoping to trade for an aluminum grille, but he will sell it outright.
