Four speed floor shifter help!

Ok guys,I am in need of some help here. My truck originally had a 4 on the floor but when I got it the truck had no drivetrain. I am in need of pics and some measurements of the shifter. My plan is to make a shifter that looks original to use with my 4L60E. If I could get height to the bend, angle of bend, and the over all length it would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you're tied to fabbing it yourself, but if you've got the extra cash, Lokar has an automatic shifter that looks pretty much like the stock 4 sp shifter. Leave the clutch pedal hang and you'll fool some people.
I did that with an old F-100 I've got. Get a laugh now and then.

I was looking into that option. Just need some pics and measurements to see if that is the way I want to go.

Lokar 23" double bend on a TH400. They have the same for a 4L60e. Reaches to about bottom to mid range on the speaker grill(48GMC). Speedway has the cheapest price($240 or so) by quite a bit, 60 or 70 $$. People thinks it is a stick until they start counting pedals.

Why not just find a sm460 or 465 shift lever and graft it on to the shift arm? Around here they are easily found...

My original plan was to find something close to the factory shifter and make my own auto shifter out of it.

Ok, on my way home from town today I took the back roads. About 10 miles away from my house I saw a 1952 grain truck sitting in the weeds behind an old barn. (the last registration sticker was '78) So i pulled up to the barn and grabbed a tape measure out of my truck. The grain truck had the shifter I was looking for and a hand lever E-brake. The shifter is 24" in total length with the bend at 9" and a 3" base. If I can't find a shifter locally it looks like the 23" Lokar Nostalgia shifter will be on my list of parts to order.

Looks like you got what you were looking for. I'm doing pretty the same thing on my '50 5window 3100. I couldn't fab the tapering shaft diameter as it goes up, so I bought a used original shift lever on eBay, (showing delivery tomorrow Mon 20th) I plan on grafting it to the Shifter arm and maybe use the original style boot. Anyway, if you still need pics, info, degree of bend I'll have it tomorrow afternoon.

ghetto, I have done just what your talking about. On my '46 I cut the top cast iron riser off the shifter plate from the original transmission, made a custom mount and used it to shift my TH350 before I went to a 700R4. I'm pretty sure I still have it at the shop. From the outside it looks like a stock trans shifter from a '46 (because it is), Of course I did add an 8 ball for a knob. Give me 10 more days and I'll post some pictures.

Hey getto, as promised I found my old shifter project. This was the top from a '46 4 speed . The '46 had a lever on the shifter, I think it was used for a reverse lock out, I used this lever to lock the shifter in each gear. Anyway, have a look.

I never thought about doing that when I cut the shift levers off the two junk 51 four speeds I hauled for scrap when I bought the two 1-1/2 tons a few years ago. Both transmissons had been full of water and sand for too long to save them.

This is a great idea, thanks. I have a 48 1 ton with a 4 speed that I'm dropping on a s-10 chassis with a SBC and a th350 before Xmas, I would love to use old shifter on the conversion.
Ghetto, was your 49 originally a 1/2 ton with a 4 speed?

Yes, my 49 GMC was a 1/2 ton long bed 4 speed from the factory.
