What did you get done 11/9/14 edition

The truck came back from getting the paint on the cab. Now that its home, I started removing the core support from the old plow truck. right inner fender is good the left is bad so I need to replace that, then I put a door the right door on and just laid the fender kinda on with one or two bolts
How about you all>?

Re: What did you get done 11/9/14 edition

I scored a set of 100% rust free inner fenders at a local pick and pull yesterday for $40. And I also got a set of GM 2005 HD 8lug take offs with good tires for $400 off of CL today.

And, I got the Christmas lights on the house today. No fun but done.

Attached my fuel pressure regulator and got it all dialed in, fixed my taillight issue and swapped out all bulbs and headlights. Tomorrow off to the shop to install new 3.73 gears and then back home to begin my trans swap.

I drove all the way to Tyler to get a safty inspection and none of the freakin places had a inspector. It was a good excuse to try out my new circle d converter.

Re: What did you get done 11/9/14 edition

Got the temp gauge fixed, got the heater and defrost working, adjusted the timing and it was running great. After about 4 months of waiting on funds and the other little things getting done. I took it down the highway. It was fantastic.

Rebuilt the quadrajet, played with manifold vs ported for the vacuum advance and bought a new timing light.

Re: What did you get done 11/9/14 edition

Got the heater core out. Found out the replacement aluminum ones are a POS. The instructions say duct tape makes an excellent seal. Really? Pulling a used one this week. Cold weather on the way.

Re: What did you get done 11/9/14 edition

The '83 has had a starting problem since I got it. I was thinking timing, but there was no timing tab. So I put one on, the only type on the shelf, the two o' clock type. Then I tried to time it and it ran like garbage, so I had to find top dead center with a screwdriver. Turns out it needs a 12 o' clock timing tab, so I just used the mark I made to time it. It actually was pretty close to being right. So I put the battery from the '87 in it and it seems to start fine now. Now to figure out why the '87 isn't running right.
