SHipping a short block (looking for sugested shippers)

Hey guy's

Looking for a way to ship a short block
from San Antoneio TX, to Minneapolis MN,

From what I have seen, some of you guys
move more stuff around the country than
what should be allowed by law ,

Anyone have a suggestion on shipping
method or shipping company's ?

The guy I am buying the engine from will
put it on a pallet and take it to a terminal.
And I will pickup at a terminal at my end.

Thanks Mike D.

The last time I did this I used Overnite shipping but I have since heard that they are going/gone out of business. I can't really reccomend them but you might try ABF freight or Yellow.

I've found that Fedex Freight is cheapest. Not regular fedex, fedex freight. They, like all companies can give you a quote over the phone.

We use a lot of freight companies at work but we have had the best luck with Fed-Ex Freight. It seems like they have their act together and offer the best prices.

Try ABF Freight or Yellow as one of the other members suggest. You can call them and ask for their best rate. This is a cut throat business and LTL shippers really compete against each other. Tell him you would like it sent FOB Pre-Paid Shipper. This means the person that does the shipping owns the goods while in transit all the time until you receive it, inspect for damage. Once you sign the freight bill to receive it, you then own it. In other words, if it's damaged in transit, the shipper is responsible for making a claim against the carrier, not you. If something bad happens, it will save you alot of hassle.

Thanks for the tips, I will put them to use.
I apperciate the help, never had to use
a shipper for anything, and I get real
conflicting rates .. depending on who I
call seems like knowing what you are
talking about really helps, rather than
asking them for info. (I can see in my
mind them going OHH lets how much
I can squeez this ignorant dude for)

Ask all your friends....If any of them ship LTL from work and they can get it on a truckline they deal with on a regular basis, it will be about 60% cheaper than any rate you can get

I have no friends, that is why I spend so
much time on line, if I had friends I would
not spend all my time working on trucks,
or maybe it is because I spend all my time
working on trucks that I don'r have any
friends

Thanks Guys !
